After weeks of designing and sketch-upping (new word) and endless sleepless nights of drawing we come to the final product. I don't really know what to say about my boards on the blog. The guitar center is meant to be a place for tourists and community members alike, with it's museum exhibits, classrooms, cafe, auditorium/stage indoor and outdoor, and retail.

World Domination Log: Guitar Celebration Center Progress
So this progress is definitely after the fact, but I wanted to show a little bit of where my design came from before I uploaded my final boards. I started working in sketch-up to get a better idea of how my form would work, using the plans I already created to dictate where the columns would be placed, and from there altering the angle and direction the column was leaning towards.
As the design progressed I felt that the guitar displays were paramount to the center as guitars were the focus, I spent a bit of time designing different types of guitar displays in sketch-up ending up in what I think looks like a rummage sale.
Here's the design a little farther, working on interior and second floor. Still not with final displays.

World Domination Log: Entry 2
Step two: undermine an unsuspecting bystander's facebook page.
Still can't add the School Bus project because the picture was having trouble uploading. However, process pictures for the current project were able to upload. I am designing a celebration center for the Healdsburg Guitar Festival. A large gathering of luthiers and guitar enthusiasts from all over the world located in Santa Rosa California. My site is located in Healdsburg itself, 20 minutes north of Santa Rosa.

Initial floor plan. Consisted of one single floor, but was lacking some other spaces crucial to the design and the function of the guitar center.

Elevation (above) and Section (below) give an idea of the height of the beams which make up the structure. It is possible to begin to get an idea of how the leaning beams will be positioned and look. |

World Domination Log: Entry 1
Plan one: Find baby, steal candy. Also post first architecture project of the year. Two days, plus one renovated bus to create plus 6:30 am bedtime makes for one sad Lisa.
